In the [previous episode](http://watch-learn.com/video-tutorials/wordpress-custom-query-part-07-custom-filters/) we created kind of primer how you would work with WordPress Custom Queries dynamically. So you get some values put them in variables and then send those variables to custom query, and the query spits out data corresponding with those values.

We are going to do pretty much the same thing in this episode just a bit differently, since we are going to display our results on different page and we are also going to learn about WordPress Custom Query property that we didn't cover just yet and that is `s` property that is used by WordPress for search.

In this tutorial we are going to create custom search that searches our posts and post types using WordPress Custom Query.

As I've said in the [previous episode](http://watch-learn.com/video-tutorials/wordpress-custom-query-part-06-tax_query/), in the next few episodes we are going to do some practical examples with custom queries.

In this episode we are going to revert back to the post list that we had in [meta\_query](http://watch-learn.com/video-tutorials/wordpress-custom-query-part-05-meta-query/) episode, and we are going to make dynamic filters for that list. So we will be able to filter our posts by price, size and color.

We already learned about [simple taxonomy queries](http://watch-learn.com/video-tutorials/wordpress-custom-query-part-04-taxonomy/) in this series. And they are cool but in this video I'm going to show you how you can query your posts by taxonomy in a little bit different and more flexible way.

We are going to do that by using `tax_query` property of `WP_Query` object. We are also going to learn how you can create a custom taxonomy and also query that taxonomy.

In this WordPress Custom Query tutorial we are going to be learning how to use tax_query to query your posts via either default or custom taxonomies.

This `meta_query` property is probably the most important aspect of `WP_Query` object. Learning this will supercharge your WordPress Custom Query toolbox. With `meta_query` you could do pretty much what ever kind of query you want. It is that powerful.

In this video I'm going to show you just a few examples of `meta_query` property, but I hope it will be enough for you to experiment with it and experience just how powerful it can really be.

We will use this knowledge in future videos to make some really cool practical examples and most of them will use meta\_queries.

In this tutorial about WordPress Meta Query we are going to take it up a notch and learn about meta_query parameter of WP_Query object.

meta_query

If you are doing basic WordPress site you are sure going to come to a need for displaying your posts by certain tags or categories. Collectively these are called taxonomies, they are a way for you to categorize your site into some logical parts.

In this episode we are going to learn how you can display posts that belong to certain categories, tags or even how to display posts that don't belong into those taxonomies.

For this we are going to be using `cat`, `tag`, `category__in`, `tag__not_in` and similar properties that `WP_Query` object provides for us.

In this WordPress Custom Query tutorials we are going to tackle displaying our posts by filtering them with tags and categories.

Taxonomy

Now we are going to learn how to compare the results we get from our WordPress Custom Query and display only the data that matches certain conditions. We are going to do that by learning about two new properties.

The first property is `meta_compare` which allows us to define operator for our comparison, and the second is `meta_value` to which we give the value that needs to be compared.

In this WordPress Custom Query tutorial we are going to learn how to display data from our custom query that matches certain condition using meta_compare and meta_value properties.

Comparing

In this episode we are going to get familiar with `order` and `orderby` properties of `WP_Query` object. With those properties we are going to be able to tell our custom query how to sort our data and by which values.

We are also going to learn about `meta_key` and `meta_value`. Those are used to sort our results by custom fields that we may have for our posts or pages or any other type of data.

In this tutorial about WordPress Custom Query we are going to learn how to sort results that we get from our custom query.

Sorting

In this first episode I'm going to be talking about `WP_Query` object in WordPress and I'm going to show you some basic examples of what you can do with it to display content on your WordPress site the way you want. That is to say - to have complete control over the output of your data.

Examples that we are going to be doing include:

- Displaying certain number of posts
- Ordering your posts
- Creating a featured posts functionality

In this WordPress Custom Query tutorial series we are going to take a look at WP_Query object in WordPress and how you can use it to create complicated WordPress sites.

Basics

To make this events list we are going to use Wordpress custom query and meta\_query functionality. To make events custom post type and necessary fields we are going to continue using WP Types plugin.
