Having a custom endpoint for our custom post types is great, but it's much better to also have custom filters on our WordPress REST API custom end point. In this video we are going to create a filter for our route, so that we have an API for filtering the data, in our case by price.

You guys have been asking a lot of questions on this [video](https://watch-learn.com/frontend-tips/wp-rest-api-custom-endpoints) so I decided to make a few more videos about WP REST API, not just because you asked but also because WP REST API is pretty cool and can help a lot if you are developing decoupled themes where WordPress is just used as a backend.

In this video we are going to create WP REST API custom endpoint which will also show custom fields made with ACF.

WP REST API - Custom Post Types And Fields

In WordPress you have something called "Custom Post Types" and "Custom Fields". Of course October CMS gives you the ability to create custom content types, just a little bit differently. To create our first custom content type we are going to be using the Builder plugin for October CMS.

This plugin let's you scaffold your own plugins for October. Since everything in October is done via plugins, this is the way you would create your own content type and your own custom fields. Of course, plugins in October are used for more than just creating custom content types. You can create pretty much any kind of functionality with them that you want using powerful Laravel framework.

In this episode we are going to do quick overview of the Builder plugin, and create our first plugin and content type.

Builder Plugin Overview

In this episode we are going to manipulate our WP REST API again but in bit different way than we did before, because as you will see none of our previous manipulations won't be applied to custom post types.

To do that we will be using `rest_api_init` and `register_rest_fields` functions, also you will learn why no to use Toolset plugin to create your fields, and if you are using it, how to make it work with Vue.js.

Adding Custom Fields

Now we are going install Toolset Types plugin because it gives us nice interface for creating custom post types for WordPress, but more importantly it comes with support for WP REST API, so you can easily create REST endpoint for your API.

Once that is set up we are going to do pretty much the same thing like in the previous episodes and use vue routing and Vue.js to display our custom post type data.

Custom Post Types

This time I'm going to show you how to reference field or fields from different custom types in WordPress. So what does that mean? It means that we can have a special field in our custom type that will give us the ability to choose a relationship between our custom type and another custom type and it's custom fields.

In this example instead of writing authors name for our "books" custom type we will choose it from a dropdown list of already available authors. And by doing this we will get access to that custom type and it's fields that we will use in our templates.

In this episode I answer a viewers question about referencing fields from different custom type.

Reference fields

In this video we are going to be making a simple real estate site so we can demonstrate how to use repeater fields with custom post types. Since WP-Types doesn't have dedicated repeater fields we will be using their **post type children** functionality which will be doing pretty much the same thing.
